Police are seeking information after a spate of burglaries occurred over the weekend at golf courses around North Otago and South Canterbury.

Oamaru Police Senior Sergeant Jason McCoy said a cash box was taken from the Otematata Golf Course and buildings were broken into at the Omarama and Kurow golf courses.

“It appears they were chasing cash.”

There were also burglaries at golf clubs across South Canterbury including Tekapo, St Andrews and Waimate, he said.

“Someone’s done the rounds.”

The burglaries took place between Saturday night and Monday morning. The Otematata green fee box was probably taken on Sunday night, Senior Sergeant McCoy said.

Nothing was taken from the Kurow Club, but the office had been broken into.

All of the Omarama buildings were broken into, but police were still investigating what had been taken, he said.
