Holiday driving ‘better’

The behaviour of drivers in Waitaki over the long weekend has generally been a bit better than expected, police say.

Police were out in force around Waitaki and the Southern District to ensure the safety of people travelling over Queen’s Birthday weekend.

Southern Highway Patrol Sergeant Peter Muldrew said the driving behaviour had been pretty good and he was only aware of one serious crash, which occurred on State Highway 1 near Waianakarua on Friday.
