A 64-year-old man was in Oamaru Hosptial last night after being stabbed in the chest yesterday morning.
Oamaru Hospital spokesperson Robert Gonzalez said the man was in a stable condition. His injuries are not life-threatening.
Detective Sergeant Brett Roberts said the man telephoned Oamaru police at 8.25am from the hospital to say he had been stabbed in the chest.
Sergeant Roberts did not disclose details of how the man came by his injuries.
Dunedin and Oamaru CIB staff located a scene near Oamaru and said the incident was of a domestic nature.
They are speaking to all parties involved and do not need any further information.
