Ngapara residents had a quiet weekend, with no further incidents being reported to the police following sheep attacks on the two previous weekends.
Police were actively patrolling the area over the weekend and will continue to conduct patrols in the area.
The first incident happened over the weekend of June 21-22, when 195 sheep were shot on a Conlans Rd property and a further 23 sheep were killed on a nearby farm on the weekend of June 28-29.
Oamaru Police Detective Warren Duncan said the investigation into the slaughters was continuing and a small investigation team, which included some Dunedin staff, was working through the information received from members of the public and carrying out inquiries.
“We are grateful for all of the information we’ve received, but continue to ask people to let Oamaru Police know if they have any information they believe may assist us in solving this crime,” he said.
“Again, we still believe that someone out there must know who has done this or have an idea who is involved.”
Anyone with information can call Detective Duncan confidentially on 433 1416 or Oamaru Police on 433 1400.
