Two North Otago riders competed in the New Zealand Pony Club Eventing Teams Championship held recently at the Kihikihi Domain in Waikato.
Alena Reading and Paige Hardwick both performed well with clear rounds in the cross country phase.
Reading and her horse, China Arrow, had a clear round in the showjumping and Hardwick riding Ivanoff took one rail to finish with four faults.
The venue was used for the Kihikihi International Horse Trial in April and supporter Aliesa Hardwick, said the organising committee had done a great job putting in a new track for the pony club championships.
“The cross country course was fantastic,” she said.
The girls were representing the Ashburton-South Canterbury-North Otago team, which finished 11th overall. The competition was won by Franklin-Thames Valley Area Pony Club.
