Four Oamaru high school students competed in the final of the Teen Ag competition held in Christchurch on Friday.
Ella Sanderson, Holly Malcolm, Brittany Caldwell and Georgia Malcolm competed against 20 other teams, but failed to reach the final top seven.
The two girls’ teams were placed first and second in the regional final, which was contested at the Mackenzie A & P Show in April.
Parent Cathy Caldwell said it was great experience for the girls, who had a great time.
They were required to set up a k-line sprinkler, harness a ram, use a plate meter, identify cuts of meat, clean up a diesel spill using safety gear and identify weeds, plants and insects.
