Staff and pupils at Kakanui School surprised themselves when they made a profit of $2500 dollars at their school quiz night held at the Maheno Tavern recently.
The event was organised to help raise funds for new furniture and classroom resources, as well as to send the pupils on a camp.
Kakanui School principal Ann Roughan said the amount raised was far beyond her expectations.
“I honestly didn’t think we would get as much money as we did. It was quite surprising, really, but we are incredibly thankful of the support.”
Ms Roughan was also blown away by the number of people who were willing to help with the school’s next fundraiser.
“There are a few people who have signalled their intentions to help, which is awesome.”
On Thursday, the school is holding a book costume and swap-a-book day.
