After 42 years of affiliation with Ardgowan School, secretary Julie Evans has decided to retire from her role.
Mrs Evans has been the school’s secretary since 1989 and in that time, she’s seen it transformed from an institution with two classes to a school with a roll of more than 100 pupils and five classes, encompassing children from years one to eight.
She said she had loved every minute of her time at Ardgowan School.
“It’s been really awesome to have been part of this school for so long. I’m really going to miss it.
“I never met a child I didn’t love and there have been a few cheeky ones but they all have a good side to them.”
Principal Julie French said Mrs Evans would be irreplaceable.
“She will just be impossible to replace and we will miss her so much.”
Mrs Evans was looking forward to the downtime she would now have, but due to health problems, she said there would be no holiday overseas in the immediate future to visit her daughter in Melbourne and son in London.
The school held a fish and chip day to farewell Mrs Evans on Friday.
