5-2 loss in interschool

Pupils competed in basketball, smallbore, badminton, squash, trapshooting, football, hockey and rugby when Waitaki Boys’ High School welcomed Southland Boys’ to Oamaru for their annual interschool on Wednesday.

Waitaki basketball First V produced an impressive performance for a 93-61 win. Max de Geest was inspirational form, netting 44 points in a strong team effort to the delight of the team’s passionate supporters.

Waitaki were also victorious in trapshooting (263-238), but fell to losses in badminton (4-2), squash (3-0), smallbore (743-699), First XI football (3-2) and First XV rugby (31-17) while the First XI hockey ended in a 2-2 stalemate for a 5-2 overall score.
