Zayne Agate will be in action in Taupo and Feilding next month, with the hope of closing the gap on first place in the NZ Superbike Championships.
The 17-year-old is sitting in second place nationally, behind New Plymouth’s Hayden Fitzgerald in the super-light class, but with 200 points still up for grabs over eight races the former St Kevin’s College student and is confident he can chase Fitzgerald down on his Kawasaki ZXR450.
“I’m pretty confident. I was under the old lap record last year. That was my first time there, so (my chances) will be high,” said the Alma rider.
“Hayden (Fitzgerald) will be quick. He’ll be used to it. I won every race at the Burt Munro (challenge) in Invercargill so I’m confident.”
Agate will be racing on March 22 and 23 in Taupo before heading to Feilding to compete on March 29 and 30.
