Stihl Shop Awamoa Football Club held its prize-giving at Fenwick School on Sunday following an impressive season with 11 teams competing in the local junior competition.
Although none of the Awamoa teams took out top spot this year, several came close and the young players were rewarded for their efforts with certificates, medals, trophies and a barbecue.
Despite the weather playing havoc with local pitches at the beginning of the season, a combined effort ensured fixtures went ahead with some matches played at Five Forks School and Ardgowan School, while several games were played back- to-back at some venues.
Club president Andrew Steel credited all involved for their dedication.
“Everyone pulled together to make the season work with some great communication to and from Waitaki District Council making sure everyone knew what was happening,” he said.
