Away win for Old Golds in Masterton

North Otago have maintained their unbeaten start to the Heartland Championship with back-to-back victories.

After squeezing past West Coast by a point last weekend, the side have sneaked home again – this time recording a tense 18-16 away win against Wairarapa Bush.

The Olds are one of only two unbeaten teams in the Heartland Championship after two rounds – the other being Mid Canterbury.

The match was significant for three reasons –  it was the first Heartland Championship match under lights, the first on the artificial turf at Memorial Stadium in Masterton and the first Heartland match in maroon and yellow for Nathan Cargo and Aleki Morris.
