Bank slump to third loss

Meadowbank United’s season was dealt another blow on Saturday in a frustrating 1-0 loss to Mountainview at the Oamaru Showgrounds.

After losing their first two fixtures of the campaign Bank found some much needed form with a 3-1 win over Thistle A last weekend, but could not muster a second win in as many weeks.

Both sides created chances early on but Harry Bowman’s effort sent Bank 1-0 down into the break.

The Oamaru side’s training schedule had been disrupted in recent weeks by the poor weather and coach Simon Willetts believes this showed in his side’s disjointed passing.

“We just weren’t finishing,” he said.

“We were relatively dominant in possession in the second half, but it was quite telling that we hadn’t trained on the grass for a few weeks, just the passing wasn’t up to scratch.”

Bank will look to get their season back on track against Timaru Boys’ High School at Sir Basil Arthur Park next Saturday.
