Crunch time for Shield semifinals

Friday, July 17

Following a physically demanding 15-fixture round-robin season, Old Boys, Excelsior, Athletic Marist and Kurow will battle for a place in the Citizens Shield final at the Whitestone Contracting Stadium tomorrow.

Old Boys, which won the round-robin section convincingly with 12 wins, two losses and a draw, will lock horns with fourth placed Kurow, which ended Old Boys’ 11-match unbeaten run in 20-12 mudfest on June 20.

Old Boys is chasing a fifth successive Citizens Shield win and will be an obvious favourite to secure a place in the final.
