St Kevin’s College student Amber Cunningham has been honing her skills at the Edgar Centre in Dunedin as part of the Otago Cricket Accelerator programme.
The 13-year-old wicket-keeps, bats and is perfecting her bowling in the weekly sessions, receiving coaching from the high performance staff at Otago Volts and Sparks over 10 weeks in the off season.
Cunningham said she had been soaking up the tips from the coaches and was looking ahead to the beginning of the season.
“My bowling is better and my batting is getting way better,” she said.
“They’re (the coaches) really good. They help heaps. I just want to improve on everything and get stronger.”
The second grade Albion starlet represented Otago at Under-15 level in Whanganui in January, helping her side down Canterbury and Auckland along the way and has six weeks of the coaching course left.
