The Dick Hunt Holiday competition resumes tomorrow following Oamaru’s successfull Wild Buck Twenty / 20 tournament last weekend.
The Choccos landed the competition for the second time since its inception, the victory was a fitting way to begin the club’s 150th year.
Mutt Murphy’s side toppled Albion by one wicket in the final at the Whitestone Contracting stadium in a tightly contested affair after downing Valley in their semifinal by seven wickets.
Murphy told the Oamaru Mail he hoped the win would inject some momentum into his side’s waning 2013 / 14 campaign with Eastern on the horizon tomorrow.
Eastern will be intent on returning to winning ways after falling to a 15 run defeat to Union in their last Dick Hunt outing.
Union will host winless Valley at King George Park, the two sides met in a tightly contested third place playoff tie in last Saturday’s competition in which tomorrow’s visitor’s picked up a narrow one wicket victory.
