Encouraging win prior to Heartland campaign

North Otago downed Otago Country 24-15 in their final pre-season hit out at Forsyth Barr Stadium before the beginning of their Heartland campaign against Wairarapa Bush on Saturday.

The Old Golds took advantage of the rolling substitutions allowing coaches Mike Mullins and Troy Looms to take a good look at those vying for a place in the final 22.

North Otago looked threatening throughout the first period taking a 24-10 lead in to the break before Otago Country returned for the second period with a renewed sense of purpose to hold Mullins’ side to a scoreless second half.
