The final round-robin fixtures of the Borton Cup will see Albion take on Oamaru/St Kevin’s at the Whitestone Contracting Stadium’s outer oval; Valley entertain Union at Weston Park; and Waitaki Boys’ High School welcome Eastern to Milner Park.
Valley has already secured its place at the top of the points table and Albion cannot be caught in second place.
Third and fourth are still interchangeable with Union on 50 points and Waitaki Boys’ on 45 points, while Oamaru and Eastern will play their last Borton Cup matches of the season.
The dismal weather last Saturday led to play being abandoned and all teams awarded five points.
Players did not take to the field at Mill Reserve in Palmerston as heavy rainfall in the morning resulted in Eastern’s clash against Valley being called off early on.
Union was all out for 259 in the 48th over before rain brought an end to proceedings in its tie with Albion at King George Park.
Duncan Drew (61) top-scored, while Jake Greenslade (43) and Sean Conlan (51) also performed well with the bat.
Jeremy Smith and Ricky Whyte took three for 48 off ten and three for 64 off ten respectively, while Ian Cooney posted figures of two for 38 off his four overs.
Oamaru/ St Kevin’s was 220/8 against Waitaki Boys’ High School at Milner Park before the rain came in the 46th over.
Oamaru’s Ben Cant (71) performed well and Regan George (58) was next best with the bat, while Waitaki skipper Nathan Smith was the pick of the bowlers, taking two for 15.
Tomorrow’s fixtures will begin at 12.30pm.
