A fine day, and a 12 race card provided plenty of entertainment and good racing at Sundays Oamaru Trotting Club meeting.
Leading drivers Ricky May and the Williamson Brothers were once again to the fore. May took out the first race of the card with Mach’s Love, with the Williamson Brothers finishing ahead of the field in races 3,5, 6 and 10. Nathan Williamson taking race three on Aidan’s Rocket followed by Matthew Williamson winning race five with Scotty’s Image. Junior Driver Brad Williamson notched wins in races 6 and 10 riding Marseilles and San Antonio Rose respectively.
But the aces were outdone in the big race of the day the Oamaru Harness Racing Club Oamaru Cup (valued at $12,000) which was won by long shot Alateros driven by Pete Davis, followed in by Cam Before the Storm, with Kimberly Butt and Graduate Under Fire and John Dunn.
As usual, the day provided plenty of racing action and with the Williamson quinella, Marseilles, driven by Brad Williamson and trained by his father Phil, appropriately taking out the Williamson Racing Stable Trot, it was a good day at the office for the locals.
