A spirited first half from St Kevin’s College proved in vain as they were soundly beaten by St Bede’s College, of Chirstchurch 67-8 in the annual inter-school held at Murray Field yesterday.
The match was a chance for St Kevin’s to put some poor performances behind them and get back on track but they struggled to match the physicality and speed of St Bede’s.
Following a couple of fierce haka by both sides, St Kevin’s College came out of the blocks strongly and dominated the opening exchanges through their big ball-runners Kelepi Funaki, Paea Palaa, Sami Havea and Keegan Anderson.
