Kurow chasing first win

Week eight of the Oamaru Liquorland Citizen Shield will have Old Boys playing host to Valley, Kurow entertaining Maheno and Athletic Marist locking horns with Excelsior.

Last weekend’s fixtures produced no surprises, with Athletic Marist, Excelsior and Old Boys all claiming well-deserved wins.

Excelsior and Maheno opened the weekend’s proceedings, with the young Blues side claiming a tightly contested 31-24 victory over a buoyant Maheno at Whitestone Contracting Stadium.

Old Boys’ performance showed why they remain the team to beat, with a strong 45-22 win over Kurow, while Athletic Marist kept things tight at the top of the points table, downing Valley 24-9.

Saturday’s Oamaru Liquorland Citizen Shield fixtures:

Old Boys vs Valley Plunket Electrical, WCS 1, 1pm.

Kurow vs Maheno, Kurow, 2pm.  

Athletic Marist Liquorland vs Subway Excelsior, WCS 5, 2.45pm.
