Tainui put an end to a run of four successive losses with a 4-3 victory over Northern Hearts in the South Canterbury premier men’s hockey division in Timaru on Saturday.
The two sides were locked at 3-3 before stalwart centre forward Shaun Cunningham scored with two minutes remaining to seal Tainui’s first win in more than a month.
Player-coach Jared Ovens and Roger Orr also netted as Tainui returned to the form they displayed at the beginning of the campaign.
