Oamaru Gymnast Caitlin Middlemass performed well at the weekend, winning her grade at the Christchurch School of Gymnastics Invitational Competition.
The 13-year-old from the Pathfinders Gymanstics Club outclassed around 40 other gymnasts competing in the same grade to finish as the overall winner.
She had a standout tournament, finishing first in the beam and second in the floor, bars and vault.
The St Kevin’s College pupil competed in the step 4 class and has been grade 1, 2 and 3 South Island champion for the past three years.
This weekend, Middlemass will compete in a grade 5 tournament in Dunedin, with the aim of gaining a qualification for the nationals later in the year.
