Lower Waitaki golfers broke a long drought at the weekend.
A team from the club claimed the Kerr Cup, the symbol of Aorangi women’s golf supremacy, for the first time since 1985.
Maureen Kerr, Isabell Bond, Shirley Elliott and Marilyn Duthie combined for a net aggregate of 301 to get their names engraved on the trophy at the Timaru Golf Club at Levels.
The Oamaru quarter won by four shots from Maungati (304), while Ashburton was third on 307.
The Kerr Cup has been held annually since 1937.
