North Otago’s Lemi Masoe remains a doubt for the Old Golds’ pivotal clash against South Canterbury at Forsyth Barr on Saturday.
The stalwart centre did not train on Tuesday evening after injuring his groin during North Otago’s 19-15 victory over Thames Valley in Paeroa in week five.
Coach Mike Mullins said Masoe would be given as much time as possible to regain his fitness before a decision was made on Thursday, but conceded it would be a major loss if the injury did not heal in time.
“It would be a big loss if he is unable to play, as he brings a stability to our backline attack and defence,” he said.
