Oamaru Intermediate School’s Jed McKay won the North Otago primary school snooker tournament held at the RSA on Saturday.

The 13-year-old downed Liam Berry of Ardgowan School in the tightly contested final.

President of North Otago snooker Jason Todd said numbers were up from three competitors to six this year.

Todd, who is also a level one cue sports coach, said he is hoping the number of young players continues to increase and insisted height is not an issue as cues can be modified and footstools provided.
