Narrow win against West Coast

A Ben Palmer penalty eight minutes from full time was enough to see North Otago sneak home 17-16 over a spirited West Coast side in the opening round of the Heartland Championship at Whitestone Contracting Stadium on Saturday.

Palmer’s boot was the difference between the two sides, with the first five showing great accuracy off the tee in missing just one kick, a tricky sideline conversion, While West Coast through halfback Hugo Torres and replacement first five Nik Cumming missed five shots at goal.

Old Golds coach Barry Stevens said his side were lucky to get the win.
