Sports equipment manufacturing company Gilbert has announced it will be North Otago Rugby Union’s apparel and football supplier in an agreement that will make the company the exclusive apparel supplier for all North Otago representative sides.
Although better recognised as a ball manufacturer, Gilbert has a history of supplying apparel to clubs and schools globally.
Gilbert currently has agreements in place with Newcastle Falcons in England, the Newport-Gwent Dragons in Wales, Randwick Rugby Club in Australia and fellow Heartland Championship union King Country Rugby on these shores.
North Otago CEO Colin Jackson said he was looking forward to the partnership with Gilbert.
“North Otago Rugby is delighted to be forming a close working relationship with Gilbert.
“As a brand, Gilbert are world renowned and we are justifiably proud that they have recognised North Otago as a worthy recipient to promote their apparel, balls and equipment in New Zealand,” he said.
“I would be hopeful that our clubs and schools will support Gilbert as it is critical that we tangibly acknowledge our sponsors.”
Sales manager Raniera Tini said Gilbert was pleased to be partnering the union and developing a relationship with grassroots rugby in North Otago.
“We are delighted to be partnering with such a strong and well-respected union and I look forward to building on our successful relationships in the region to ensure all clubs and schools are using Gilbert apparel, balls and equipment.”
Gilbert brand manager Jon Clarke said the partnership continued to demonstrate Gilbert’s commitment to supporting grassroots rugby throughout New Zealand.
“We look forward to building on our existing relationship with North Otago for many years to come,” he said.
