The North Otago Primary Boys Cricket Team’s clashes at the 51st South Island Primary tournament have been marred by poor weather.
North Otago almost took an outright win against South Canterbury, with an exciting finish on Monday at Queens Park in Invercargill making 176/5 while South Canterbury amounted 161/9 in their allotted time, protecting the draw in the last three overs.
Tuesday’s wet weather forecast didn’t stop North Otago and Southland Country from going at it, with Southland winning the toss and opting to bat first.
After 29.1 overs in the dismal conditions, with the umpires keeping the game going through heavy precipitation, North Otago had Southland Country at 80/4
The weather eventually ended proceedings, with all tournament games being called at 4pm on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Play continued yesterday, with North Otago winning the toss against Invercargill Metro and electing to bowl first.
Invercargill totalled 173, while North Otago were 22/1 when the Oamaru Mail went to print.
