Oamaru drivers set to shine in rally


Oamaru rally drivers and cars are set to provide some top competition in the Caitlins Coast Rally, which kicks off this Saturday morning in Owaka.

Scott Simpson is the fifth highest seed in D class and will pilot his Mitsubishi Evo 7 over the almost-new route which will cover 163km of special stage competition and a further 80km of touring stages.

Simpson will have his usual co-driver James Bee at the rally.

John Mather and Lance Streeter and Peter and Cherie Fridd are seeded second and third in A class and will be joined in the line-up of local drivers in this section by Brendon Fisher with Caitlyn Vanags as co-driver.
