Connor Sandri has been selected for the New Zealand team to compete at the next UCI downhill mountain biking World Cup races of the series in Canada and the United States.
Sandri finished in sixth place at his first World Cup race in Cairns last Saturday, and was confident of being selected for the next stage.
“It felt pretty good (to be selected),” he said.
“It’s pretty exiting, everyone’s been really supportive.”
Last week’s rainy weather made the course difficult for riders to negotiate across the Tasman but the 16-year-old over came the greasy surface, producing a sterling display to take the hot seat but was eventually pegged back to sixth place overall and the second fastest kiwi.
The former Waitaki Boys’ High School student will compete in Mont-Sainte-Anne in Beaupré, Quebec in August before jetting to Windham New York.
