Saturday’s final of South Canterbury men’s division 1 hockey may not have gone the way of Tainui, but the side is still looking at their breakthrough season as a resounding success.
Wakanui Black were victorious in the final claiming a 5-2, but were made to work hard by their opponents from Oamaru.
Tainui player coach Jared Ovens said it was 2-1 at half time and his side were still in it.
