Tainui made a cracking start to the new hockey season with a 4-2 win over Northern Hearts at the Oamaru turf on Saturday.
Hearts shot to an early lead following two goals from penalty corners, but the rest of the game belonged to the home side.

Josh Dalziel scored two goals, brother Nick added a third, and player-coach Jared Ovens completed the scoring as Tainui roared back from 2-1 behind at halftime.
“We’re very happy with that start to the season,” Ovens said.
Tainui has the bye this weekend, and plays defending champion Cambridge in Oamaru next Saturday.
The club’s B team also opened the season with a win.
Ryan Stringer (two), Scott McClea and Cameron Hill were on target as Tainui B beat Geraldine 4-0 in Timaru on Sunday.
