Second-half fightback earns draw

Tainui A staged a stunning comeback to seal a 3-3 draw with leading side Cambridge in a thrilling South Canterbury premier hockey game at the Oamaru turf on Saturday.
Cambridge, which had made a hugely impressive start to the season, powered to a 3-0 lead at halftime, including a brace from Hayden Shaw, the former long-serving Black Sticks drag flick specialist.
Tainui A must have had some magic water at halftime because the game was turned on its head in the second spell.
Brent Martyn, Andrew Knight and Shaun Cunningham all scored goals, and with goalkeeper Sam Brocas in inspired form at the other end, the home team took a share of the points.
In Timaru, Tainui B was beaten 6-3 by the Timaru Boys’ High School First XI. Nick MacDonald, Ryan Mackay and Anthony Harrower scored for Tainui B.
Neither side has a game this weekend.
