St Kevin’s College First XV fell to a tightly contested 24-22 defeat to St Bede’s College at Tuesday’s interschool.

Coach Justin Fowler said he was pleased with his players’ efforts against tough competition.

“They played very well,” he said.

“I’m proud of the boys, they’re one of the top schools in the country and to come that close to beating them was frustrating.

“I think it’s been 11 years since we beat their First XV but it was a good physical contest and I’m happy with the boys.”

SKC will next be in action against Mt Aspiring College on Saturday but will be without loose forward Michael Lockley due to a foot injury.
