Waitaki Boys’ High School and St Kevin’s College will meet today in fixture that each year captures the imagination of a town and has a habit of disregarding form in place of desire.
St Kevin’s will hope to retain Leo O’Malley Memorial Trophy, which is warmly referred to as “the peanut” and record their third successive victory, a feat that has not been achieved by the school since 1990.
Waitaki’s run of five Blood Match wins ended in a 26-8 defeat two years ago as the balance of power shifted from Milner Park to Murray Field.
