Tainui aiming for a top finish

Friday, August 7

Tainui will look to continue its winning form against Wakanui Blue in the South Canterbury men’s hockey first division in Timaru on Saturday.

The Oamaru side returned to the points table’s summit with a 4-2 victory over Timaru Boys’ High School last weekend while Wakanui Black could only manage a 2-2 stalemate with Cambridge.

Tainui, on 44 points, are just one point ahead of Wakanui Black and a slip up against Wakanui Blue could cost Jared Ovens’ side a more accommodating semifinal fixture next Saturday.
