Top effort from Aoraki Award winners

The three Oamaru high schools produced an impressive number of winners at the 2014 Aoraki Secondary Schools Sports Awards held at The Southern Trust Events Centre on Friday evening.

Waitaki Girls had a successful night, with five of eight finalists winning their categories, while Waitaki Boys’ had nine pupils win their sections and St Kevin’s four.

WGHS winners: Rebecca Dellaway (Tennis), Helena Johns (Badminton), Renee Bond (Golf), Hayley Tonkin (Table Tennis), Jennifer O’Connell (Netball). O’Connell and Jasmine Ng also received NZ Honours badges.

WBHS winners: Jacob Sullivan (Pool), Joel Meikle (Motocross), Stephen Marsh (Touch), Max de Geest (Basketball), Henry Bower (Karate), Jonty Naylor (Squash),
Tim Craig (Trapshooting), Josh Tonkin (Table tennis), Ethan Wilson (Sailing).

SKC winners: Regan Holland (Cycling), Jacob Coghlan (Rugby), Isobel Ryan (Swimming), Micayla Brenssell (Rodeo).
