The Aoraki Secondary School Squash Championships were dominated by Waitaki Girls’ High School and Waitaki Boys’ High School in Oamaru on Tuesday.
The Waitaki Girls’ trio of Brooke Eckhardt, Katelyn Naylor and Emma Gawn defended the school’s title with wins over Craighead Diocesan School (2-1), Ashburton College (3-0) and the St Kevin’s College (2-1) team of Bree Louden, Natalie Preston and Rosie Pope in an all-Oamaru clash.
Seven schools contested the girls’ competition, the championship round-robin section included the Waitaki Girls’ red team, Ashburton College, Craighead Diocesan School and St Kevin’s College while Mount Hutt College, Waitaki Girls’ black team and Geraldine High School battled it out in the lower ranked plate section.
