Waitaki Boys’ High School’s junior basketball team produced fine performances to claim second place the Aoraki Secondary Schools’ Junior basketball tournament held in Timaru on Tuesday.

Waitaki took comfortable wins in their first four fixtures, downing Timaru Boys’ A 42-8, Roncalli A 41-24, St Kevin’s 44-21 and Timaru Boys’ B 40-25.

Despite the impressive run of form, Waitaki started lethargically in their final game against Ashburton College and fell to a 43-16 defeat.

The WBHS team has also been performing well at the Otago Secondary Schools Competition held in Dunedin on Friday nights, recently downing John McGlashan 10A  70-19 and Kings’ 9A 75-23.
