Waitaki Boys’ High School’s motocross riders received some top tips from Peter “Broxy” Broxholme and fellow NZ rider Campbell King at a two-hour training session last Tuesday.

Broxholme, a current New Zealand Team Honda Rider, coaches more than 600 young riders each year and credited the nine Waitaki Boys’ students for their attitude and dedication to the sport.

“They’re capable motorbike riders,” he said.

“A real standout was Ryan Mason. He’s come a long way. They were all definitely good. We put them in the deep end a little bit but they all stepped up.”

Waitaki Boys’ sports coordinator Paula Symes said she was pleased with the training session and the boys’ involvement.

“Our students seemed to get a lot out of the training session and really enjoyed themselves,” she said.

“I am really pleased with how it all went and we look forward to seeing Broxy again soon for another training run.”

Tauranga native Broxholme said he was looking forward to returning to Oamaru again next year for another skills session.
