The Dick Hunt Holiday competition resumed on Saturday following a month’s lay off but neither Union or Oamaru showed any sign of rustiness to pick up wins.

Union continued their winning ways by downing Valley by two wickets. Sean Conlan (84) produced an impressive display to notch the Blues’ second win of the competition.

Oamaru’s fine form in the shorter version of the game continued from last weekend’s T20 victory with a 102 run win over Eastern at Excelsior.

The choccos were all out for 224 while the visitors could only muster 122.

Jeff Grubb said the side must improve is they’re to take anything for next weekend’s clash with Valley it what was a difficult encounter for the young team.

“Absolutely pathetic, rustiness, we bowled poorly and batted poorly,” he said.

“We’ve got to take more responsibility for our wickets, there was a few silly shots, it’s a steep learning curve for these young players.”

Saturday’s round five fixtures;

Albion vs Oamaru, Whitestone Contracting Stadium Outer Oval.
