Drug testing on animals protest supported

‘Why should I die, for you to get high’ was read on the placards at yesterday’s Oamaru protest against drugs being tested on animals.

Oamaru’s Katelin Fleming organised the protest, which attracted more than 20 local residents and their dogs.

Cars were tooting to show their support on Thames Highway.

Local protester Louise McDougall was brought to tears talking about the testing.

”It’s disgusting, it’s just wrong.” she said.

Miss Fleming said new figures revealed more than 300,000 animals in New Zealand are tested on every year.
