More than 365 people are due to arrive in Oamaru by train tomorrow.
Travelling from Dunedin, the train arrives at about 11am and will depart at 2.30pm.
Tourism Waitaki marketing manager Megan Howell said the same train visited Oamaru last year for a drivers’ training trip, and after such a successful run, it will be an annual event.
“It was so incredibly popular and worked so well,” Ms Howell said.
By the last count 365 had booked to travel from Dunedin to Oamaru, but there could be up to 400 people arriving.
On board the train, each passenger will be handed an Oamaru town map and a double sided flyer to “Explore, Experience and Discover Oamaru”, including specials with some of the town’s attractions and activities.
Ms Howell said local businesses had been very supportive of the trip.
Tourism Waitaki are encouraging locals to head down to the Oamaru Railway Station on Saturday at 11am to greet the train.
