Tourism role for skifield boss

Ohau Snowfields managing director Mike Neilson has been appointed as a director on the Waitaki Tourism Board.

Waitaki Tourism Board chairwoman Annabel Berry said they were delighted with the appointment of Mr Neilson.

“Mike brings a wealth of tourism and business experience to our board, combined with a passing for the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail which will be invaluable as we continue to develop and market this important tourism product,” she said.

Tourism Waitaki is a Waitaki District Council-controlled organisation, focussed on facilitating the growth of the District’s tourism industry and management of the Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony.

The board members are chairman Annabel Berry, Michael Ross, Marcus Brown and Mike Neilson.

Mrs Berry said a main focus was working with key partners to establish the Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail as the main tourism product for the district.
