Oamaru needs a town crier. That’s the word from current Central Otago town crier Paddy-Ann Pemberton.
A retired school teacher and international winner of the media section at two town crier conventions held outside New Zealand, Paddy-Ann Pemberton, wants Oamaru to have a town crier.
“There are no town criers south of Christchurch and just think how much a town crier would add to the overall ambience of the Victorian Precinct in Oamaru,” she said.
“Town criers really do have the ability to add the X-factor.”
