Colourful character will be ‘hard act to follow’

Oamaru lost one of its most colourful local characters with the death on August 27 of “Roddy” Brown.

Since the inception of 45 South, Roddy had been a fixture at the station, initially fronting the programme ‘Talk about Town’ and latterly, sharing his intricate knowledge of sports with a weekend roundup of sporting results.

Tony Reynolds of 45 South said Mr Brown had a great knowledge of local history and sports.

“He will be a hard act to follow,” he said.

“Roddy was a complex character with loads of talent.”

45 South chairman Mike Edwards commented that Mr Brown will be sadly missed by everyone at the station and also the viewers.
