Precinct ‘of world heritage significance’

SHARE

The possibility of Oamaru’s Victorian Precinct becoming a World Heritage Site will be examined when Auckland conservation architect Bruce Petry gives a lecture in Oamaru tomorrow.

“I’ll talk of what some of the pluses and minuses are and how World Heritage Sites are managed overseas,” Mr Petry said.

The issue had been raised in Oamaru in 2007 but Mr Petry said he had recently visited World Heritage sites overseas and would pass on information to initiate discussion once again.
