Victorian Christmas calendar flies off shelves

A special inaugural Christmas calendar published by the Victorian Wardrobe has proved a big hit.

Of 200 calendars printed, 150 had sold by late Friday, and Dawn Sutherland, of Victorian Wardrobe, said a reprint was being considered.

“It’s a fundraiser to get funds for more costumes,” Mrs Sutherland said.

Friends dressed up in period costumes and gave their time for the good cause.

“We tried to do different settings – the beach, swaggers, church, children, penny farthings, and we went to the Opera House and Gardens.”

The photos were taken by Mike Keen, with several photo shoots being held from September onwards.

“He took over 300 photos and it was was very hard to choose the final selection.”

The calendars sell for $15 each.

Copies are available at the Kakanui Store and from the Victorian Wardrobe in Oamaru’s Victorian Precinct.
