Waitaki District Council has commenced a public consultation on the Class 4 Gambling and TAB Venues policy.
Policy and Communications manager, Fraser Liggett, said the policy sets out a range of issues including where and how many Class 4 gambling venues may be established, how many gaming machines (or ‘pokies’) can be at any one venue, how to apply for a licence and what the fees are.
“Amongst other things the draft policy sets an overall cap on the number of venues and gaming machines in the district,” said Mr Liggett.
“We welcome and encourage views and opinions on all aspects of the draft policy during the consultation period which closes on Monday, October 20.”
All relevant information, including the submission form can be found at www.waitaki.govt.nz or can be collected from council offices in Oamaru and Palmerston or at any library in the district.
